Vanguard Sound: Services

Like what you hear?

If so, thanks, that makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside.

In all seriousness, though, I can do four things for you: live sound reinforcement, recording, mixing, & producing; pick the one that suits your needs, fill out that sweet form at the bottom & we’ll go from there.

Live Sound Reinforcement Services

If you’re in the San Diego area & need a live sound engineer, get in touch with me & we’ll go from there.

Recording Engineer Services

As a recording engineer, there’s three services I can offer you: (1) recording in Vanguard Sound, (2) recording in a studio of your choice, & (3) recording in a studio of my choice.

Depending on the needs for your project, I will make sure to give you a sound, cost-effective strategic recommendation to ensure its success.

As a recording engineer, I will only make small musical decisions while tracking (i.e. tempo, pitch, tuning, etc.); if you’d like for me to get more involved in your project, book me as your producer.

Mix Engineer Services

In terms of mixing (depending on how fancy you want to get with it), there’s three services I can offer you in different capacities (whether it’s a single, EP, LP, film, or beyond): (1) online mixing, (2) remote mixing, & (3) mixing in-person; please allow me to give you an explanation to each of these.

Online Mixing

Considered by many the most cost-effective way of doing things in the industry nowadays, online mixing is pretty straight-forward: You send me every single track of your song (wherever you did them) to me, I mix it, & send them back to your approval.

Remote Mixing

Considered by many the least cost-effective way of doing things in the industry nowadays, remote mixing is also pretty straight-forward: You send me every single track of your song (wherever you did them) to me, I mix it in a studio that suits the needs of your music, & send it back for your approval.

But Jesus, why would you try to sell me this?

You

As aforementioned, some projects require an extra level of love & attention (no, I’m not trying to use your money to fool around in expensive recording studios; that’s messed up); I’ll know, early on, if this is a route we should consider for your project & will only make a recommendation for it if I feel it is absolutely necessary.

Remote mixing, however, can be cheaper than mixing in-person (depending on the location).

Mixing In-Person

Considered by some as a necessary expense in the way of doing things in the industry nowadays, mixing in-person is also pretty straight forward: You attend the session while I mix it.

There’s a couple of ways we can go about mixing in-person. You can:

  • Come to Vanguard Sound attend the session while I mix it.
  • Go to a studio of my choice & attend the session while I mix it.
  • Go to a studio of your choice & attend the session while I mix it.

Producing

If you’d like for me to work on your project — from beginning to end — as a producer, I will want to meet you in person first. Producing is a role that requires a lot of personal involvement in the decisions made in your project. This involves (but is not limited to) the: selection of studios & musicians, creative decisions made while tracking (i.e. style, delivery, etc.), mixing (of course), hunt for a mastering engineer, distribution, & more.

If you’d like to have me on your project in this capacity, get in touch with me & we’ll go from there.
